4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 87 ratings

The mission was never supposed to be easy. Traverse dimensions, shift through alternative timelines, protect the Earth.

Andrew Ethridge had always known the stakes were high. Yet, nothing prepared him for the truth.

Jumping through parallel universes left Andrew with more questions than answers. As a member of the Cross Dimensional Corps at Area 51, he faces the daunting task of understanding why aliens were collapsing dimensions. It’s a race against time to save not just Earth, but the very fabric of the universe.

When inside a dimension where Atlantis dominates the world, Andrew and his team find themselves cut off from support. Their only way back is to rescue scientist Sabina Caelia. She knows about the aliens. And she’s on a mission of her own.

Then came the turning point. A revelation so profound, it threatened to shatter everything he knew. Andrew discovered a device capable of saving Earth across all parallel timelines. But in the wrong hands, it could mean the enslavement of humanity.

Now, Andrew's mission transcends mere survival or military protocol. Existence is on the line. Can a team of professionals achieve the impossible?

Experience the beginning of this sprawling action-filled sci-fi entry to the Blink series. If you’re a fan of Arrival, the Matrix, the Three Body Problem, or if you want to know what aliens are actually like, you'll love this military sci-fi epic.

Please note, this novel offers a unique two-in-one experience. Part I presents 'The Beginning,' a complete novella. Part II delves into 'Last Atlantis,' the first full novel in the series. Enjoy this almost 500-page dual literary adventure!

It's important to note in the description that this work is a combination of a novella followed by the novel.

Readers will be dropped into the middle of an ongoing multi-dimensional struggle to save reality from a seemingly unstoppable force. The MC begins expanding his team with competent people from other timelines of Earth that could have been. Even the MC is not native to "our earth."

There is also the complication of determining if the MC, his team, and his organization are even the "good guys." It is a very "ends justify the means" style of thinking as they rob, plunder, and basically kidnap from other dimensions to further their mission. The characters have varying levels of skepticism if their mission is truly for the greater good, or if they are being manipulated.

I have love Brandon Ellis books from the first time I read his original Star Guid series. His characters feel so real to me. But this time the characters seem to be cookie cutter types. Parts of the story seem just to be drop in to fill the book. Moving way too fast and the concepts are mind boggling. It did start getting better by the third quarter of the book. Still no real feeling for anyone. But I hoping that book 2 and 3 will be better. Kinda recommended .

A touch of archeology/ history, a smidge of ancient alien theory & mystery = a good read. A bit dry at some points, but overall I enjoyed it.

Ellis and Wolfe have created a reality or more correctly, multiple realities that will blow your mind!
Andrew and his team have a very complicated job, save their reality that an unknown force is targeting with a device that destroys realities totally.
Andrew's team (along with other teams) transport themselves into alternate realities to find technology and/or scientists that can help them develop anything that can counter the threat. They are using ancient technology that they got from ancient Atlanta sites that allows them to traverse dimensions. However, not all dimensions are safe or peaceful.
These alternate realities will constantly blow your mind and test your own self awareness in the end!
I proudly award this first novel in the series 5 STARS!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very interesting read
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 20, 2024
The action started immediately I opened the book and continued apace so much I didn't want to put it down. By the time I got to the middle though it seemed to slow down a bit, but it did pick up again later.
I found the end a bit odd, almost 2001: A space odyssey-like, but I think that is probably down to the fact that there is a follow on book.
Overall I would recommend it and look forward to reading the next one.

This is well written, but I’m not sure the style is for me. However, now I have started the series I want to know what happens next.
Jumping in and out of dimensions trying to act humanity is central to this book and the writing style emulates this as it quickly jumps.
If you like something different then give this a go.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrilling Time Travel
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 8, 2024
Ellis & Wolfe have used the familiar time travel trope for this series and I like what they have done as without going too metaphysical and confusing they have used the multiverse scenario and a race against time to save Humanity in an engaging and thrilling ride if action.
Although there was a few pieces that were a bit out of sync It does come clear in the end.
The main team characters were well thought out and created a nice balanced approach where we got to explore a bit more about them without taking away from the main story approach and narrative character.
Onward to the next book as this is being added to my expanding tbr pile.
